The Dispute Resolution Team (DRT) is comprised of team members from various states across Australia and New Zealand.

The DRT elects its own Chairperson who occupies that position for 12 months.

The Chairperson has the casting vote if there are any matters that remain unresolved following mediation.

Matters to be discussed and adjudicated by the DRT include, but are not limited to the following:

  • A complaint lodged by a member or non-member in regards to the fact that a PCO member does not meet the general membership eligibility criteria as displayed on the PCO web site
  • A complaint lodged by a member or non-member in regards to the fact that a PCO member does not meet the specific membership eligibility criteria for a certain membership category as displayed on the PCO web site
  • An appeal lodged by a non-member who has had their general membership application rejected
  • An appeal lodged by a member regarding an unsuccessful Individual Accreditation application
  • An appeal lodged by a member regarding an unsuccessful Company Accreditation application
  • A complaint made by a Client of a PCO member regarding the provision of unsatisfactory services or conduct by that member
  • A complaint made by an Events Industry Supplier or Venue regarding the provision of unsatisfactory services or conduct by a PCO member
  • A complaint made by a PCO member regarding the provision of unsatisfactory services or conduct by an Events Industry Supplier or Venue

All complaints and appeals need to be in writing and forwarded to the PCO head office before they will be referred to the DRT.

All complaints and appeals are listed in the appropriate section of the PCO website whilst being investigated.

The Chairperson of the DRT is Mike Jones

Mike's bio is as follows:-

Mike’s career within the Tourism and Hospitality Industry has spanned 37 years and commenced with a management apprenticeship at the Hong Kong Hilton.

In 1981 Mike was transferred to Perth as F&B Manager at the Parmelia Hilton. In 1986 Alan Bond employed Mike to be involved in the concept and design of Bond Corporation’s Observation City Resort Hotel on Scarborough Beach, where he spent 6½ years as General Manager, before venturing east to the Gold Coast.

Mike has been the General Manager of the Gold Coast International Hotel for the past 16 years and for 3 separate owners. In addition he was the architect and sole Group General Manager for the Japanese Real Estate giant ‘Daikyo International’ tourism arm “Daikyo Hotel Resorts & Cruises”.

Mike held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Gold Coast Tourism Bureau and is currently the President of the Gold Coast SKAL Club and a Director of the Gold Coast Academy of Sport. In 1999 Mike was inducted into the QHA Hall of Fame for his commitment to tourism in Queensland.

Mike runs a successful Hotel Management Company called TOPMAN or Tourism Operational Management.
